Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat, Ted Nugent, Led Zeppelin, George Benson, James Taylor, Pink Floyd, & Black Sabbath are some of Skip's main influences. "I'm drawn to their sense of melody and hard driving rock and roll," said Myre. "I started playing guitar at age 5 or 6. I made my first axe from a broken guitar I pulled out of someone's trash and spare parts I got from my Uncle Ron, who was a very good guitarist."
Skip Myre - Guitar
Skip has studied many disciplines of music: including jazz, rock, blues, and classical. "Since my earliest memories, music has had a profound effect on me," said Myre. "I could not live without music. I always wanted to be a part of it. I was not content just to listen. Hearing the song “Benny & The Jets” around the age of 9 or 10 sealed my fate."
Humble to the core, Skip Myre's skill speaks volumes. "I'm just a guitar player from Detroit," said Myre. "My solos showcase the power of the song: the melody, the harmony, the energy."
"The name Piper Stone is deep rooted in history," said Myre. "It's an actual object which signifies mass strength, unwavering." Skip's been in countless bands over the years, but the strength of the band Pipers Stone is unlike anything he's encountered. "I love this band because we're all close. We're much more than friends. We can lean on each other for support. We work together as a team. There is a piece of us in every one of these songs, because we wrote them. We bring together our diverse influences and the result is a unique collective of music."
